Biography
Dr. Xiang Li is the Qiushi Distinguished Professor of Zhejiang University. He has proposed novel advanced optimization methods that can improve the solution efficiency by orders of magnitudes, allowing reliable and efficient decision-making for complex manufacturing and energy systems. Dr. Li received the NSERC discovery grant with early researcher supplement (Canada). In 2019, he was invited to give a short course on global optimization at the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences.
What You Can Expect in the Project
This project is to develop data-driven methods for wind farm optimization. Since first-principles wind turbine wake models are overly complicated, data-driven models will be developed for efficient optimization. The models will be integrated in derivative-free optimization frameworks that can ensure convergence to reliable solutions. The methods will be compared and assessed with the FLORIS simulator.
